Alex is a filmmaker, innovator, and marketing executive based in New York. His marketing innovations have won five Clios, two Webbys, and shortlists at Cannes Lions and The One Show. His films have been featured in The New Yorker, Wired, Vogue, and TIME, and he was longlisted at the 96th Academy Awards®.
Alex specializes in simplifying complexity. In his current role as Head of Innovation at Publicis Sapient, Alex works with CMO Teresa Barreira to incubate projects where the potential outcomes are 10x the size of their inputs. One example is the company’s “Impact Films” collaboration with Oscar winner Ben Proudfoot, which Alex developed into the largest and most successful marketing initiative in Sapient’s history.
Alex is a player/coach who not only assembles the best teams, but also leads by example with a direct, hands-on approach to creative. In addition to producing The Drum’s Chair Award-winning documentary When Neurodiversity Works, he also edited it; in addition to developing the Webby-honored integrated campaign for What Happens in a 4C World, he also wrote the hero film; and in addition to leading the Brand Lab agency that brought together Porsche x Star Wars, he also directed their Clio-winning video.
Prior to joining Publicis Sapient, Alex was a video director and editor for brands such as Estée Lauder, ESPN, and Dior. He later entered the publishing world as head of video for InStyle magazine, before becoming the founding hire at Condé Nast Branded Entertainment, supervising all creative production for brands such as Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair and driving $30m in yearly revenue. He then went on to lead the Brand Lab innovation group, where he developed new digital media products and audience-first content strategies for Fortune 500 companies.
In addition to his full-time work, Alex consults for some of the world’s biggest and most prestigious media companies. He helped create AMC Networks’ award-winning Content Room; devised new creative approaches for The Washington Post Creative Group and The Foundry at Dotdash Meredith; and piloted successful editorial series for The Wall Street Journal.
Alex graduated cum laude from Tufts University, focusing on international economics and communications. He is passionate about social impact media, having produced work on housing insecurity, criminal justice reform, climate change, AI ethics, diversity in Hollywood, autism awareness, immigration, and education. Another of his passions is mentorship, including running Publicis Sapient’s MALP program for young marketing leaders.
When he’s not working, Alex directs his own projects and takes photos…but honestly, most of his free time is spent playing with his kids.
He has never before and will never again speak about himself in the third person.
